Hyalite Reservoir Camping

National forest campground hood creek campground is located on the shore of hyalite reservoir. The campground at 6 200 feet elevation is adjacent to scenic hyalite creek. Chisholm and hood creek campgrounds are located on the east shore of the lake offering family camping units picnic sites boat ramps outhouses and drinking water. At 6 700 feet elevation it is adjacent to the hyalite reservoir and the east fork of hyalite creek.

Most campsites are in open meadows along the creek. Langohr campground is located 12 miles south of bozeman montana on the hyalite canyon road. Some campsites are in open meadows along the reservoir while others are among scattered pine and fir trees. There are 10 sites for camping with the largest parking spurs being 14 feet by 60 feet and 28 feet by 35 feet.

Dispersed camping dispersed camping is restricted to designated sites look for a carsonite sign marked with a tent symbol within mile of the main hyalite road and east fork road many additional sites outside of the restricted zone. Hood creek campground is located 17 miles south of bozeman montana on the hyalite canyon road.

At an elevation of 6500 feet the campground encompasses an area of 5 acres contains 25 camp sites and one group picnic area and three day use picnic areas. There is a boat ramp for launching your watercraft. Two hundred and six acre hyalite reservoir is an ideal location for fishing camping and water sports. Hyalite reservoir has a no wake rule allowing only low speed motoring for trolling.

Hood creek campground and chisholm campground abut hyalite reservoir and are starting points for numerous short and long hiking routes into the dense timber up to alpine meadows and lakes on the peaks above.
