Hyalite Canyon Dispersed Camping
At an elevation of 6500 feet the campground encompasses an area of 5 acres contains 25 camp sites and one group picnic area and three day use picnic areas.
Hyalite canyon dispersed camping. Hood creek campground is located on the shore of hyalite reservoir. The campground at 6 200 feet elevation is adjacent to scenic hyalite creek. Turn left onto hyalite canyon road and follow it for 6 3 miles. Turn right onto jeep road forest road 1046.

Dispersed camping is restricted to designated sites look for a carsonite sign marked with a tent symbol within mile of the main hyalite road and east fork road. Largest camping spur is 25 x 45. Once you cross over hyalite creek there will be numbered designated campsites. A no wake rule has been instituted allowing only low speed motoring for trolling.

No cell phone signal. The campground has 20 sites and is open between mid may and mid september weather permitting. We followed forest road 1046 to the intersection with forest road 682 and took the spot on the right. Some are among scattered pine and fir trees.
